SIGNS of Greatness

Making a grand statement in tactile form is important to us here at ROSSLANDS.

From the early days of our namesake’s farmland placard, to the historical markers that reflect our local city’s idealogical representation, a hearty welcome sign is the mark of a great celebratory remembrance or upcoming event.

So, in addition to our other offerings, we’ve decided to become signmakers as well.

Sure, in today’s world, signs take on just about any size and shape imaginable – and more often than not, they’re digital. We could easily make digital animated videos projected onto 50-foot buildings to highlight coming attractions – and we’ve done that (at FESTHAUS) – which does have a certain “cool factor”, but it’s also a bit sterile, impersonal, not to mention, impermanent. Plus, we’re inundated with screens and tech at every whim, so how unique is the medium anymore really?

So, our solution is to create once was once ubiquitous back to the forefront: one-of-kind handmade signs. A nod to the past, but hopefully a trend for the future – much like we have with our intro lines of games and greeting cards. Sure, it’s a lot of work, but we believe it has a special, lasting, tangible value for you and/or your recipient.

To start on this venture, we created some simple signage for ourselves – mobile sets to use at markets and other small events. Among these is reference to the days of antiquity and our city’s namesake, Cincinnatus (of which we also created some of our first designs for games and clothing):
